If you are planning a trip out west and cacti are on your bucket list then Tucson Arizona is where you want to go. Tucson offers much to tourists visiting. From National parks, museums, great food, and almost year round warm weather Tucson is a great destination to keep in mind.

Our trip to Tucson was just one of the many stops we made on our long road trip. It easily could have been the one and only destination based off all the amazing things Tucson had to offer. Since we were only there two days here is what we packed in on our short stop.

Saguaro National Park – while all national parks are unique and offer beautiful views and experiences for all visitors. Saguaro National Park stands apart from the rest because of its Cacti forests. No other national parks in America allows visitors the opportunity to walk through a trail of Cacti for as long as the eye can see. While there visitors will be able to see America’s largest Saguaro Cactus. Visiting Saguaro national park is a must because it is an all encompassing image of what the west is.

Tucson Mountain Park- is a 20,000 acre recreational park, there are many biking, horseback trails, and running trails. Picnicking and camping are available. We went there for just an evening walk and enjoyed watching the desert sunset.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum- this place is misleading in its title. It sounds like it would be a museum about cacti or the desert. In actuality it is a much more than that. It is similar to a small zoo and botanical garden along with an art museum. We saw a variety of desert plant life there are over 55,000 plants on the property. There is also a butterfly garden and many wild animals. We saw a mountain lion, javelinas, prairie dogs, and many more animals. Most of this is an outdoor exhibit but there is a small giftshop and has a small art display inside.

San Xavier del Bac Mission- the oldest European structure in Arizona and was built as a mission and is still used as such. Church services are still held there and it is free to tour and visit. This structure was built in the late 1700’s. I loved this place so much

Postino Grant Restaurant- we ate at a lot of different restaurants while here in Tucson. We ate at mostly local Mexican restaurants and I sadly cannot remember the name of them. The only restaurant I remember is Postino Grant’s Restaurant. The food was great. I got the Caprese sandwich and it was amazing. I loved sitting outside in the warm desert heat too.
