We took a quick unplanned trip to Texas and stopped at Dallas along the way. Neither Nathan nor I had ever been to Dallas. We stayed on the outskirts of Dallas the night before. Next morning, we got up and Nathan picked the breakfast place, and it was delicious. We ate at Snooze an A.M. Eatery. I would say 90% of the time we eat at a local restaurant and not a chain because we try to support small local businesses; to be honest, we had never heard of it and so assumed it was a small local business. It was such a welcoming comfy restaurant. After we left, I snapped a picture of the front of the building and put it up on my snapchat story and my friend swiped up on my story and said she and her husband ate there all the time in Colorado. I did a quick google search and found out that Snooze A.M. Eatery has locations in 8 different states.

To the important details, what did we eat? Let me start off by telling you I am a boring breakfast person. I don’t want something overly sweet or overly flavorful give me a bowl of grits and a piece of toast and I am happy. Or scrambled eggs and toast and cup of water. My husband and mother-in-law on the other hand are the opposite. Nathan wants all the meat and all the sweats and Becky true to her personality is down to try anything.
Okay time to order! I ordered Juan’s Breakfast Tacos with no meat. So just eggs and cheese on taco shells with one of the most delicious Mocha drinks I have ever had. It was two shots of espresso with chocolate sauce poured over steamed milk. So good!
Becky ordered Goldilocks Porridge to quote the menu it was “Ancient grain mix of steel cut oats, quinoa and millet simmered in almond milk. Topped with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, bananas, toasted almonds and hemp seeds.” She also got a Chai Tea that in her words were, “better than Starbucks”
Saving the best for last Nathan ordered probably the sweetest item of the menu. It was Banana Bread French Toast. They took actual slices of banana bread and made French toast out of it and made a banana powdered sugar glaze to top it off! Needless to say, he was in heaven!

The next thing we did was go to the Dealey Plaza. Most of our trips will result in at least one museum or historical marker stop. One thing I liked about Dealey Plaza is you are able to appreciate and take in the significant historical event that happened there. It looks almost identical to the day the JFK was assassinated, so in a sense it felt more real and more recent this way. One thing I hated about Dealey Plaza, or that I that I dislike about historical tourism in general, is that often times the facility or tour guides, or society is so desensitized to the horrible events that happened and so focused on bringing in tourists and making money, that they forget these people were real, their family is real, and the event, even though it happened decades ago, it’s still very real. This place was a murder scene of the leader of the United States, which brings me to the thing that actually disgusted me. In a gift shop across the street from the scene of the murder was a rack of t-shirts being sold with a picture of the Texas School Depository Building with the sixth-floor window open and a gun pointing out of it. I was floored! The absolute disrespect and most untactful thing to put on a shirt! The gift shop did provide other items for sale that were less offensive. They sold replica stickers of Kennedy’s campaign buttons and books about him. After a quick walk around, we hopped back in the car and headed to our next destination in Texas.
